Using the Multi-branch Connector

Multi-branch connectors make it easy to do a parallel connection which comes in especially handy whenever wiring a PWM charge controller. PWM charge controllers such as the C-40 & C-60 are more efficient when the solar panels are wired close to the nominal voltage in a parallel configuration  to achieve charging through increased amperage.

Series Circuit

  In a series circuit, the current through each of the components is the same, and the voltage across the circuit is the sum of the voltages across each component. In a series circuit the voltage increases while the amperage stays the same. The same current flows through each part of a series circuit. The total resistance of a series circuit is equal to the sum of individual resistances.

Parallel Circuit

  In a parallel circuit, the voltage across each of the components is the same, and the total current is the sum of the currents through each component.  In a parallel circuit the voltage stays the same while the amperage increases. A parallel circuit has two or more paths for current to flow through. Voltage is the same across each component of the parallel circuit. The sum of the currents through each path is equal to the total current that flows from the source. 

Series-Parallel Circuit

A series-parallel circuit is a combination of the two different types of circuit configurations. The rules of series and parallel circuits must be applied selectively to circuits containing both types of interconnections. If we are able to identify which parts of the circuit are series and which parts are parallel, we can analyze it in stages, approaching each part one at a time, using the appropriate rules to determine the relationships of voltage, current, and resistance.
